Learning how to build Cantenna, wireless for East Africa

I’m back in the states for a bit, but while I was in Uganda I found the need (regularly) for a easy to build range extending antenna. I was working on installing things like an open-mesh.com network, improving the WiFi range of a backpackers system, setting up a WiFi backbone, etc. I was able to find some parts for a cantenna, but having never actually built one I was somewhat lacking in the expertise to assemble it. While I’m back in Denver I’d like to assemble one so I can replicate it when I get back to East Africa.

Any chance anyone here at Sparkfun can help me out. I’ve found a bunch of tutorials online and have been reading through a bunch of them. What I really need is to listen to someones experience in building one of these antennas (or another low cost antenna, I’m not picky so long as it’s about 12dBm) or even better would be someone who can help me build one.

Thanks

Rich

Better to shop hard to find a deal on a 9dBi or better patch antenna.

Cantenna is a lot of time for naught.
