I have the WRL-15597 90cm LoRa antenna, which I plan to mount on my roof. What kind of lightning protection is recommended for this kind of antenna?
Should I install a lightning rod near the antenna? Should I somehow ground the antenna to earth? (how?)
Is this overkill? There are a few tall trees within 20 meters of the antenna, and there’s not a lot of lightning activity where I live.
You’re probably going to want to talk with a company that installs antennas for advice on how to protect your antenna but the guys in the link below could probably help.

If your antenna takes a direct lightning strike, the antenna would probably be toast. What you want to do is keep the lightning from coming inside through the coax and a properly installed lightning arrester would do that.
If you know any hams that operate HF radios with antennas on a tower, they would be able to help you with this as well.
