Link Microcontroller to Cell Phone

I would like to link a cell phone to my microcontroller for 2-way communication to maximize range with my autonomous project.

I want the microcontroller to transmit data (e.g., GPS coordinates ) via the cell phone directly to a computer. I also want to send data from the computer back to the cell phone and microcontroller.

Are there any Sparkfun products that can accomplish this? Thanks.

You can use a GSM radio module like the GE862, GE864, or GE865 instead of a cell phone.

The reason for using the cell phone is I need a ~25 mile range capability.

The GSM Modules are “Cell Phone Radios” that you can control via a serial port - they have the same range and capabilities as a cell phone.

The GSM kits in http://www.MadeEasyKts.com look promising, however the kits are sold out and documentation is very limited unless you purchase their developer’s bible. But that’s out of stock too. No so easy after all. Anyone have a good and reliable website for GSM kits? Thank you.
