Long shot??

Perhaps this is a long shot. I don’t know quite what to call it I guess a “household” or “closed circuit” or “local” GPS system. I want to place “satellites” throughout a room to transmit a timing sequence via radio. The receiver reads the timing sequence transmitted from the satellites and uses the data to triangulate itself. I think this is how actual GPS works, in a nutshell. I want to ability to make devices aware of their location in a room very accurately.

Would this be the way to do it? Is it feasible?

Well, I don’t know how you would actually go about implementing such a system, but I know that what you’re describing has a name: local positioning system.

I doubt you could use commodity GPS parts to implement such a system as they probably do a lot of things specific to a signal coming from space, but you could start with the google and go from there?
