Looking for a waterproof switch pad

I’m working on a device that would help me count laps while I’m swimming.

I currently have a lowform sealed box I put close to the edge of the pool with a big button on top. Every time I finish a lap I click the button to count up.

However, this is not convenient. I would like to put a very thin switch-pad just at the edge of the pool where I normally hold in order to turn.

I can use a pressure pad but I’d need to waterproof them which may cause a whole lot of problems.

Any recommendation for an existing waterproof device I could use?

Maybe try a hall effect sensor, reed switch or another sort of magnetic sensor; would be easier to seal not having any moving parts.

A project similar to this one came up a few years ago, try the search function.
