Looking for unregulated dc-dc step up converter for dimmer usage

Hi guys,

I have a 24v LED controller with dimmer function that changed the output voltage to dim the LEDs.

Problem is that the LED only operates at 33-40VDC.

I need to step up the output voltage from the controller from 24V to 40V and decreases when the controller output decreases.

I don’t need a converter that regulates at 1 voltage, instead i need the converter output to change linearly according to the input voltage… How do i do it? :frowning: :frowning:

Thank you!!

Hi CyberPunk.

It’s possible, but probably not worth the trouble.

Sadly, I don’t know of anything ready made that would work to do what you’re trying to do.

You could design and build a DC to DC converter circuit that’s able to deal with a 24 volt PWM input to make this work, but it would likely be quite an effort and probably wouldn’t work well a low brightness settings. Honestly, you’d be better off finding a controller that already puts out 35-40 volts and go with that rather than trying to boost the output from the one you have now. Another alternative would be to swap out the LEDs your currently using for ones that work at 24v.
