[Low Power] - SparkFun Pulse Oximeter and Heart Rate Sensor - MAX30101 & MAX32664

I have purchased this sensor from the sparkfun recenty and trying to get it work on low power but however it is consuming 12mA to 15mA in ideal stage and consumption increased by 10mA when the led of the sensor get flash, so ultimately power consumption becomes almost 18 to 25mA.

Is there any ways to operate the sensor at 1mA to 2mA or even microAmperes?

Thanks for reaching out to us on this.

The current levels are determined by the resolution frequency and several other factors; Check out pages # 3-5, 24-26, and 29 here https://cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/f/e/9/4/1/MAX30101.pdf and page 34 here https://cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/2/e/2/1/9/AN6806.pdf to begin determining what might be suitable programming for your use-case.

Hope this helps, and happy sparking!

I have gone through the page numbers of datasheet provided. It is showing some of the features of sleep mode will be implemented in to the future, and only sleep mode is possible is MAX30101 AFE Sleep, I am going to implement same for the power reduction of the module. But I want to reduce the power supply even though sensor is in operational mode. So is there any options available for the same.

Now power consumption is more than 15mA when sensor is working and LEDs are on, whenever sensor is working and leds are off power consumption is reduced by 6-8mA. but in standby mode i want to achieve power consumption up to 2mA.

I’m afraid you’re not going to be able to get this device to operate at that low a current, it’s just not designed to go that low. :frowning:

What is the minimum current range that I can go up to?

That’s never been tested, you will need to connect an ammeter and see how low you can get it. I’m afraid we are not able to do this for you.
