LPC-2378STK. Ext port console test error, please advice.

Hello,

Could somebody here please help me with 2 problems concerning Olimex LPC-2378STK product.

After long sequence of unsuccessfull attempts to gain access to the LPC-2378 via Olimex ARM-JTAG I came to an idea to try UART0.

There is a menu with tests.

If I press “E” (Ext ports test) I see a message (lines below are copypasted from the terminal):

ERROR:

Port0:

Pin to VCC

Which pin? How to find it?

(forum refused to accept full message, so I cut it in two)

I paid for my board $340US.

The board came alone. No CD, no guarantee, not even a “thank you” message.

Is it normal? Shall I really use google looking for software, FAQs and errata, or there is somewhere a place with a quickstart instructions?

Thanks.

That depends on what software you are using to program the board. If you are using a freeware C-based system then Google is probably your best bet.

If you program in Oberon-07 and use FlashMagic to upload your software via UART0 we can support you on Olimex’s LPC2378-STK board. Even if you are using the free evaluation system of Armaide you now get 30 days of direct technical support. That should be enough to get you up and running.

Thank you for an answer, but think you are not correct.

(the software below is available for all of our customers who purchase the development board):

I mean Olimex promissed some sotware, but provided none.

As far as I know the software listed is available as a download on request after you have purchased the board. If you bought the LPC-2378STK from SparkFun they will provide you with a download link to the software:

“the software below is available for all of our customers who purchase the development board”

http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc … ts_id=8280.

NOTE: “is available” NOT “is provided” - you need to let them know by email that you want it. That is what we did.

Really?!

Then this was my fault. Thank you for your advise.

The case is that I didn’t find a link to “Support” @Olimex’ site.

Only to traders: shipping & ordering.

(Neither a sticker with an e-mail address to request the download link)

I didn't find any link to support on Olimex's site either - but we bought the board from SparkFun so it didn't matter.

Presumably if you experience a hardware problem you can contact Olimex. I might be wrong but I get the impression that you need to contact the development system vendor if you want software support for the use of a development system with the Olimex boards. Check that the vendor supports your particular board first.

If you are using freeware it is safest not to expect any software support to avoid being disappointed.
