The Tx0 and RX0 pins on the LPC2148 are connected to the max232 IC found on the LPC board and there is no header connector for those pins.Can anybody help me figure out a way to connect directly to these LPC2148 TX RX pins.

It seems that there is no way one can access those UART pins on the olimex LPC-P2148 board.

You could solder wires to the pads and connect them to a header glued to the board. It’ll be a bit fiddly, though.
