Hi;

1.I have one confusion about MAX7456 usage with AVR arduino or bus pirate board.Since sparkfun breakout board of max7456 consists of spi interface so why to use arduino controller or bus pirate board.Why one cannot directly interface breakout board with computer COM port using RS232 to spi converter and give command through com port or make its own program in C language for what to display.Can anybody give detailed explanation of why to arduino or pirate board is compulsory.Remember bus pirate board uses python script which uses pyBusPirateLite Library.

I will be very greatfull to you if you help me solve this issue.

2.Is pixel based movement possible in max7456.I basically want to move one dot or any other character in any direction but by one pixel.If someone knows about this matter let me know I will be very greatfull to you.

There is no reason you MUST use an Arduino or BusPirate. Not sure where you are reading that information.

Anything that provides the correct SPI interface would work. Without any direct experience with RS-232 to SPI converters, I can’t tell you for certain it would work. I would image it would, but …

Can’t help with the pixel issue.

thanks fll-freak for your time but if any one can elaborate this issue more i would be highly greatfull.Especially pixel based movement of characters in MAX7456.
