Molex connector for solenoid

Hi! I’m a newbie who’s had a blast putting together a Wi-Fi door lock using this solenoid: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15324.

I wired up the solenoid with an ESP8266 Thing and other components on a breadboard. To connect the solenoid, I put some headers into the breadboard and jammed the end of the solenoid’s molex connector over the header pins. Now that it works, I’d like to start transferring the components to something a little less fragile. I’d like to solder down most of the components to a “solder-able breadboard” like this one: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12070.

Where can I find a connector that fits with the molex connector on the solenoid and can be soldered down to a board? I haven’t had much luck finding one on the site. Alternatively, is there a set of connectors I can find that I can use to replace the one on the connector?

Hi wesleym,

That solenoid is terminated in a JST connector I had not seen before looking at it. After searching around, I’m pretty sure it is a JST-XH connector. We do not carry any of that type of connector to mate with the one on your solenoid so you may want to search around for a “2-Pin JST-XH connector” and see what you find. The other alternative would be to cut that connector off and re-terminate the wires with whatever connector you would prefer. Something like this [JST Jumper 2 Wire Assembly would work well to splice with the wires on your solenoid. The assembly comes with both the sides of the connector so you can solder the 2-pin housing to your perfboard/solderable breadboard.](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9914)
