Is there some sort of vetting by admins for new forum users?
Yes there is. We moderate the first post of all new users in an effort to reduce spam on the forum. The upside is it’s very effective at weeding out 99% of spammers. The downside is it can take a little bit of time before a moderator logs in and approves the posts.
Now that your first post is approved, you have full access to the forum.
