Need help determining a circuit

OK, so I haven’t taken an electricity class since 1979 and need some help with a circuit design.

I’m trying to come up with a switchable circuit where depending on the setting of a “mode” switch and a momentary on-on “user” switch either a red light and/or green light is lit. Switching the mode switch, reverses the results from the “user” switch.

The combinations for the “user” switch and “mode” switches would be:

user A, mode A = RED & GREEN

user B, mode A = NONE LIT

user A, mode B = RED ONLY

user B, mode B = GREEN ONLY

I’ve only been able to sketch a rudimentary drawing, more of a concept, than an actual circuit to show. Though I think I need to use a diode in it which I put in the drawing. Does this diagram make sense, am I in the ballpark for getting the combinations I want?

Based on the table you gave, this will work (actually, mode could be an SPDT as user A lights the red light regardless of the position of the mode switch)

Thank-you so much for that - I have never worked with DPDT switches, and your design is simpler and more elegant!
