My car key often gets stuck in the ignition and won’t turn, so I want to make a keyless system to avoid having to use the keys. Plus it’d be great for winter time when it needs to warm up. I looked through (well, not fully of course) my Mouser catalog and browsed around online a bit and can’t seem to get a fix on what I’d need for this project or the best parts to use. What would be the best method of doing this? Eventually this is going to grow into a system I’m designing that will be run by a gutted Aspire One that will be in the dashboard running Linux and Processing, using my spare cell phone for sending/receiving messages/signals (such as start, AC on, heat on, etc etc). But thats a ways away. Any input would greatly be appreciated.
I’m a big believer in DIY, but you do realize you can buy a remote car starter for less than it would cost you to build one, right? Check out the first link on Google for “remote car starter”
DIY the stuff that’s too expensive, or not available. Buy everything else off the shelf!
