Hi all - Brand spanking new to Arduino. Purchased the Breadboard Arduino Compatible Parts Kit to better understand the workings, and to start learning embedded. Before I start, anyone have advice to share? Best way to download to ATmega328 (through Arduino software, another software)? Typical challenges? Best practices? Basically - anything you would recommend in getting started?
Any advice you have is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I like the FTDI breakout for the breadboard Arduino I put together (ATmega328P). I’d just start with some simple programs, play with example code and try to get it to do slightly different things…
E.g., start with LED blink code and get it to blink fast three times with pause in between. Add a second LED and get that to blink alternately… stuff like that.
Then pick a simple project to work on. I find it easier to learn when I’m working towards a project goal versus just aimlessly playing. Avail yourself of the help here.
Basically dive in… not a good way to learn to swim, but a good way to learn programming languages and such.
Thanks! Started with the blink - think I have an issue. Just e-mailed the good folks here at tech support; thought I would post here too to see if anyone has any solutions?..
Just received and built the breadboard arduino parts kit. I am unable to download, and the power led will not stay on when powered (blinks rapidly up to constant on, then turns off; true every time I reset).
wow you had it easy, i had to use http://itp.nyu.edu/physcomp/Tutorials/ArduinoBreadboard to get my arduinos running, admittedly they are not very hard to figure out. I started with the blink code too. Then I started playing with a pot and 5V serial enabled LCD.
Unfortunately they’ve only got the red on black on instock.
Go ahead and get a connector or be ready to solder some wires to it, cause it’ll still work if you just touch the wires in but it’s super easy to short 5V to ground.
