NEO-M8U How to retrieving data from laptop

Hello,

I’m interested in buying a GPS and I saw the ‘SparkFun GPS Dead Reckoning Breakout - NEO-M8U (Qwiic)’ [https://www.sparkfun.com/products/16329]. Is it possible to directly hook it up to a laptop or connect it wirelessly? If not, what is a good GPS board to use that has dead-reckoning?

The preferred method for connecting this GPS to a laptop is through an Arduino. See the [hookup guide for more information on connecting the GPS.](https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/sparkfun-gps-dead-reckoning-neo-m8u-hookup-guide)

Is that something separate?

Yes, it’s a separate board that acts as a translator between the computer and the GPS module.

There is a USB connector on the module that you can use to connect it to a computer but we currently don’t support that. If you know what you’re doing, you could connect the GPS via USB but we are not able to assist you with that connection method.

I know you said that you wouldn’t be able to assist me, but could you tell me what kind of data is transferred via the USB?

Whatever data the GPS is configured to send via the USB connector will be sent serially via the USB connector.
