New to this type of GPS. need alittle help please

What does Selectable log sentences RMC, GGA, GSA, and GSV mean? I’ve been looking at the GeoChron - Field-hardened GPS Logger and am not sure if i could read the logs from it.

I need the time/date and track used info, the examples on the site do not give date/time.

I belive RMC is for date/time do you simply add this to the log file on the SD card that the geochron makes? Can you add all 4 (RMC, GGA, GSA, and GSV) so it logs all the info possible?

btw does anyone have a log made by this GPS that shows the date/time? I would just like to see what it looks like.

Thanks

[The ZDA sentence contains the date/time.

The RMC sentence is “Recommended Minimum Specific GPS/TRANSIT Data”

GGA: “Global Positioning System Fix Data”

GSA: “GPS DOP and Active Satellites”

GSV: “GPS Satellites in View”](http://home.mira.net/~gnb/gps/nmea.html#gpzda)
