newbie asking for suggestion of shoping list and more

Hi everyone:

I am new to arduino. We plan to use arduino to control two DC motors and one linear actuator to implement our design for a course project. Which arduino board is suitable for such task? We want to minimize the cost.

Is arduino uno ok? if so, what kind of shield shall we choose to control the motors and linear actuator?

Also, what motors and linear actuator shall we choose that goes well with the arduino board?

Thank you very much for your reply.

I suppose it all depends on what you’d like to teach?

Any Arduino should be able to do the job. After all, the Arduino can simply control “the rest”, so it really depends on how much effort you’d like to put into “the rest”.

If you’re cost sensitive, then perhaps the cheapest 'duino you can get your hands on, combined with three MOSFET Power Control Kits?

If you only need to turn things on and off, that might do?
