Newbie - Can you network computer with XBee?

Greetings,

I am trying to figure out if you can network computers with XBee and transfer files and such.

If so, how does it work? Does it appear as a volume or what?

Yes and No.

You could connect 2 PCs with Xbee.

But Xbee is EXACTLY like taking a Serial Cable and connecting 2 PC with that. Transfers would be a bit faster than the old 56K+ baud modems (if you remember dial-up).

It might be ok for files less than 4Mb or so, but big files would take a long time.

What you want is WiFi 802.11.
