I was browsing at the weekend and came across this video of a guy who had hard wired a SNES controller to his DS, then used a camcorder to get it to his TV… this got me thinking. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get those old classics like Mario 64 now available on the DS, onto the big screen again? Yes I know I could buy a N64 or SNES, but I already have a DS that I have taken apart a few times so its more handy.
My thought is to take the idea one step further. To possibly hard wire one of the DS screens to an RCA socket. Then from that to hardware a SNES controller to it, and if all that works, then chop the controller wire, place 2 nordic chips and a few PICs between them, battery power the controller side and make the controller wireless also. I think it would be a fun little side project.
The first thing I would like to tackle is the DS to TV side. Does anyone know anything about either of the 2 screens and whether they do just accept RCA component feeds (wishfully hoping)? If so I could probably track this down easy enough when I take the thing apart again and just probe the inputs to find the RCA lines. If not, anyone got any suggestions on doing this part?
I will picture and document as I go along so others can do it if they want too.
