Not running ESCRIPT selected script at boot time

Hi Forum,

Telit 862-GPS chipset,

I have created and uploaded my foobar.py script and it works (most of the time) when I am connected with rsterm via USB and issue the #EXECSCR command. It connects to my server with the AT#GPRS and AT#SKTD commands and we pass data as desired.

When I power up the unit without the USB tether to the PC, however, the unit does not seem to connect to the server, so I am thinking that the foobar.py script is not getting executed.

AT#STARTMODESCR? returns #STARTMODESCR: 0, 10

AT#CMUXSCR? returns #CMUXSCR: 0, 115200

I am under the understanding that the enabled script is supposed to run on powerup of the unit, but this does not seem to be the case.

How does one check to see that the script will execute on powerup of the 862-GPS chipset?

Hi Pop,

As well as activating the “script enable” and “script execute” buttons in RSTerm, I also click on the AT#STARTMODESCR=1,10 button.

This causes the module to execute the script 10 seconds after power on. Those 3 buttons work every time for me.

Also, I compile my foobar.py file in RSTerm to obtain foobar.pyo (foobar??? is that a Gilbert and Sullivan term???) which I then upload onto my GM862. I find that a foobar.py file take much longer to be executed by the module - sometimes over a minute! The compiled foobar.pyo file seems to be smaller and much faster to execute.
