nRF24L01+ (RP-SMA) Range

Hi,

I have recently purchased 2 x RF24 transceivers with the corresponding antenna ( WRL-00705 + WRL-00145).

This is to replace 2 cheaper ebay RF24 transceivers (with PCB antenna) which I had to modify by adding 10uF capacitor.

I was expecting to get a better range and a more reliable signal. However the maximum range I am getting with the Sparkfun transceivers is only about 30m (the previous ones allowed close to 60m) with a clear line of sight between modules.

I have followed the hookup guide posted on the website and tested various speed and channels, the best being 250KBPS with PA_MAX. I have also tried 3.3V and 5V power supply input to the module - 5V seems is best - but still nowhere near the previous modules.

I was hoping to push the range to 150m with clear line of sight.

I am using the standard RF24 Github libraries.

Any suggestion ?

Thank you.

I think the best range you can get is 100m, and that would be under ideal conditions.

There’s a lot of stuff operating in the 2.4GHz band, interference from other devices might be causing your range to be bad.
