OBD II UART heating issue

Hello all,

I am currently working with OBD II UART shield using ESP32, The shield works to the point and there is no issue.

However I am bit concerned about the heating in the shield, can anyone tell me if the heating is normal?

I am concerned that i might not be able to use the shield for longer duration because of this problem.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Ajay

There’s a voltage regulator on the board that turns your cars 12 volts into roughly 7 volts and that will heat up somewhat while the board is powered. As long as you are using the board with a 12 volt vehicle, the heat won’t be so much that anything will be damaged. (It gets a bit warm, but it’s nothing to be worried about.)
