old-noob question

hey all. I’ve recently got a new XP computer and reloaded Arduino18 IDE on it. It seems to take FOREVER for it to open up. MUch slower than my old comp. About half the time it gives me a load error and wont even open. Once I do get it opne and upload a small sketch it takes several minutes to load the sketch on the arduino. Everything works but it tkaes sooooo long. I get an error now I never got before after the upload

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00

avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51

Any thoughts ? Thanks, AF

I got it… I looked a bit more online. In the “device manager” I disabled a few COM ports taken over by bluetooth (bluesoleil). I turned them all back on one by one untill the arduino IDE fro :shock: ze up to isolate the culprit. Now she flies like a jet. FAST ! yay. :?
