Has anyone had any success using the Olimex AVR-USB-JTAG with Atmel AVR32 devices?
Specifically, I am interested in using it to debug the Atmel ATNGW100 board.

As far as I know only the Atmel JTAG ICE MKII is known to work on the NGW100, so JTAG on the NGW100 is a “committment” - think it’s around $320 Digikey: ATJTAGICE2-ND. I’m trying to decide on getting one as well.

At digikey I think you can get an STK500 + the JTAG ICE MKII for $150, seems like a good deal to me. Search for AVRDEVKIT2-ND
Yes, unfortunately, there are none available and the last time I inquired of DigiKey for an availability date they could not provide one. Perhaps it has changed, but they seem to be perpetually out of stock for this combo.

Yeah they note somewhere on their that it doesn't show up as in stock they create them as needed, but it is kind of counter intuitive (but then again isn't that entire site).landon:

So does anyone know the diff between the rev 2 and rev 1 devices?
I just ordered up a Signalyzer which I’m hoping will eventually support the AVR 8 bit and hopefully the ATNGW100 as well, but who knows.
I looked up the combo package (JTAG ICE MKII and STK100) on digikey again early this afternoon and they listed a stock of 1. I ordered it and even got the shipment notice this evening.
Teaches me to not be quite so cynical, eh?
I [reflashed the linux embedded firmware of my NGW100 last night for the first time with the updated images on Atmel beta-ware. Haven’t tried reflashing u-boot because I don’t have this JTAG ICE MKII and didn’t want to brick the board. Once I can completely recover it from uboot up using the MKII, I’ll feel like I can go forward with the ngw with fewer concerns.

According to sales at Digikey, that AVRDEVKIT2-ND was a 3 month promotion that’s no longer available. There is an JTAG ICE MKII clone available now for about $150.
