Is it possible to use the 3.3V black on RGB 16x2 LCD on an OpenScale board using the ISP connector as an SPI interface to write text to the LCD?
Hi mcnerd,
The OpenLog can absolutely work as an SPI master to a device connected to the ISP header. Just be aware that the OpenLog runs at 5V and the [SerLCD runs at 3.3V so you will need to level shift those signals. Otherwise, the OpenLog has the standard Optiboot serial bootloader so you can treat it like an Arduino Uno. I would also recommend verifying the pins you are connecting to on that header by either reviewing the [schematic or downloading the Eagle files from the [product page.](SparkFun OpenScale - SEN-13261 - SparkFun Electronics)](https://cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/0/4/5/1/9/SparkFun_openScale_schematic.pdf)](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14072)
