Papa Soundie - Micro SD Compatibility

I am running into an issue with my Papa Soundie. I am running the example code and the arduino portion seems to be running just fine (outputting serial information to verify), but I am getting nothing but a buzz out of the audio connection. I am using a MicroSD XC card formatted FAT32 and have tried reformatting as well as a whole slew of different audio files in both supported formats.

I’m wondering if there are any known compatibility issues with MicroSD cards classed above standard MicroSD or MicroSD HC. I have two (terribly expensive for what they are) class 10 cards coming from Sparkfun in the hopes this will resolve the issue, but would like to bring forward a potential forward compatibility issue that should be addressed on the product page to ensure no one runs into the same issue if it is indeed known.

Update: I have tried the SparkFun sourced MicroSD cards to no avail. I am still only getting a low-level, high pitched whine out of the audio connections. This whine only occurs when the card is inserted. I’ve attempted everything in the troubleshooting section barring flashing the VLSI chip, which I’m unable to do as their software is only available for Windows. Seemed like such a simple board from the description…

What capacity cards are you using? I don’t recall what the max is for the board but anything 16GB and smaller should work just fine. Cards bigger than 16GB could be an issue.
