I am new to PCB design. Out of so many layers i always get confused to understand which layer is to be used for what purpose. Kindly help to understand that what all layers are actually used
More info wold be needed to even BEGIN to answer.
1.) Are you talking about a specific PCB design software? Eagle?
2.) To help target a direct response, perhaps ask about what a specific layer name means/is used for… instead of asking for ALL descriptions.
For eagle. I dont even know what ALL of them are for…
but the basic ones are self explanatory…
I would also check with whomever you plan on fabricating these PCB’s for you, and check what they want as for as as Gerber files… and then get familiar with what those layers are about/used for.
The best way to answer your own basic questions to ask Google. “PCB layers” would be a start. Most hobbyist use 2 layers for their designs. Traces are used for signal and supply, then surrounded by a GND plane. 4+ layers incorporate supply and GND on the center planes.
