Hello. Can SCMD (ROB-13911 - https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13911) be used for plugging braking without electrical issues for the driver?
Not sure what you mean by “plugging braking”, but the motor driver on this board is capable of connecting both motor outputs to ground and that would have the effect of braking a DC motor. Since the driver is designed to do that, I think you’re probably OK.

Thanks for the answer, Chris. By plugging braking I mean to reverse the polarity on the motor while it’s still running with load to brake it in a controlled way.
OK, that makes sense.
As long as you don’t exceed the maximum allowable current for the driver, (1.5 amps per channel) you should be OK.
