Powering SFE thermal printer

I am laying out a UNO shield for a SFE LSL303 BO and I wish to print data using SFE thermal printer. I intend

to drive the printer from an external power supply because of its current requirements while printing. I have an

external connection to this PS and a connector on the shield for it. This connector is a 4 pin molex with two pins

going to the external PS connector and two printer output (RX and TX) pins going to the shield pins 2 and 3. Will

this setup be sufficient? Any suggestion for the trace widths for the printer power? I understand that, while printing,

the current will be in excess of 1.4A. Other suggestions?

Any enlightenment will be appreciated.
