Preventing damage to the EL-Inverter

Hello,

I just destroyed a 12V inverter during development, because I was careless about leaving it switched on while tinkering with control elements, and no wire was being lit.

To prevent this from happening again in the future, I am thinking about having a bit of “status wire” that is switched on at all times, in order to apply a minimum load on the inverter.

Now I am wondering, what minimum length of wire should be lit at all times, assuming I was powering it with about 12V continuously?

Hi Thokari.

Sorry to hear that happened! If you leave a 6" to 1’ section on all the time, that should be plenty to make the inverter happy.
