Prius battery reconditioning

I’m messing around with building a battery reconditioning system for

my prius, and I’m looking for a breakout board that will let me

control voltage/amperage from a power source, like a switching power

supply does, in the range of 1-9VDC, 0.5-5A output. Would this fit the

bill? https://www.sparkfun.com/products/18896

Whatever the solution, I need about 28 of them.

Also, is there something that will let me control current draw from a

battery to a discharge source? Would the same board, installed in the

reverse direction, work? It would have 5-9VDC input, and I’d want to

vary the current draw from 0.2A to 4A out.

I’d also need about 28 of those lol

Thanks for any recommendations you can provide. I’m getting by with a 12V power supply, pot-controlled buck converter, a couple relays, and a halogen bulb, but I feel like it’s a bit spray-and-pray at this point. I want to be able to control charge/load enough to bend the resulting curves with some AI processing

That could work, but I would probably recommend looking into getting a “parallel charger” meant for multiple drone batteries, or something similar, or finding an online project where someone has already solved this with a custom charger

Thanks - the custom charger is what I’m building though (:

I’ve dug around and yes, there are solutions out there, but none that are as smart as I would like. Plus, DIY is most of the point.

What are the gotchas I need to watch for if I go with that particular breakout board?

Just voltage an current levels, mostly…Test one at a time, and verify the parts work before stringing them all together

Also watch temps when you get it going, might need to add heatsink/fan if you’re pushing the components hard

BTW what an awesome username
