Problem configuring XBee Pro 60mW Wire Antenna

Hi everyone,

I am new in the hobby of robotics. I have recently bought two XBee Pro 60mW Wire Antennam, one XBee Explorer USB and one XBee Explorer Regulated. I have download the X-CTU and i have started with configuring the first module. So far all good. But when i put on the XBee Explorer USB the second module it did not read the module, as there is nothing on the XBee Explorer USB. Can someone tell me what i did wrong?? thank you all.

Well I don’t follow exactly what you’re doing!

as there is nothing on the XBee Explorer USB.

Does this mean you have just the USB Explorer without an XBee pluged in?

i have started with configuring the first module. So far all good.

Does this mean that the first XBee communicated with X-CTU and you were able to read and set parameters?

Can someone tell me what i did wrong??

Can't tell you until I know exactly what you did do.

Please slow down and give a clear step by step description of what you did, what worked, what didn’t work and the response in X-CTU.

FYI:

Post the exact XBee Firmware version so we know exactly which Hardware and firmware your XBees have. There are two different Hardware series, four different Protocols and many versions of the firmware.

Did you download and Read the manual for X-CTU?

The document for the XBees?

Also, Do look through the threads in this forum as there are a number of links to more info and many discussions of the problems your experience with solutions.

Hi , thanks very much for your reply.

The Xbee’s i have are these: https://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produ … ts_id=8742

I don’t know the exact XBee Firmware version, actually i don’t know how to find out… sorry. I don’t have knowledge over these stuff i am just starting… The version of the X-CTU i use is 5.1.4.1

I have read the X-CTU manual, but did not helped very much.

Yes the first XBee communicated with X-CTU and i was able to read and set parameters, but when i put on the USB Explorer the second Xbee, in order to do the same procedure, when i pressed the ‘‘test/query’’ it said there is no device.

I don’t know the exact XBee Firmware version, actually i don’t know how to find out…

The Firmware version is shown in the reply to a Test/Query and also after a Read in the Modem Configuration tab.

Ok, trouble shooting:

Since one XBee works in the USB Explorer I’ll conclude that the USB Explorer board is ok. This means that the second XBee module is different then the first one.

What is the exact response with the ‘bad’ XBee when you do a Test/Query"?

It is possible that the ‘bad’ XBee’s Baud rate is different so try changing the Baud Rate in X-CTU. You may have to try every one.

If still no response the check the API box and set the baud rate back to the starting rate and try again. If no response at that baud rate change the baud rate and keep trying.

Let me know if this works or not.

The exact response with the ‘bad’ XBee when i do a Test/Query is: unable to communicate with the modem.

I have tried what you said, but still no response. I have tried all Baud rate but still nothing.

At the working Xbee the Modem type is XBP24, and the firmware version = 10E6.

Is there anything else i can do??? This Xbee issue is really complicated.
