XBee Explorer USB wont connect

im trying to connect my XBee Explorer USB with X-CTU i can see the com port ok but when i try to connect it cant see it i have removed my xbee`s and set the buad to 9600 is there anything i can try

thanks

Put the XBee back on the USB Explorer board.

Open X-CTU and select the COM Port number that Windows assigned to the USB Explorer.

Set the correct Baud and check/uncheck the use API box for the firmware version of the XBee you have.

Click the ‘Test/Query’ button.

This should respond with info from the XBee. If not then try another Baud rate.

Which XBee do you have?

Series?

Firmware version?

the only way i can connect to the xbee explorer board is if i tick the enable API box and when i go to the modem config screen it says

Failed to enter command mode

Unable to read Version (ATVR)

Read parameters…Failed.

im using XBEE Pro 900

this problem has only just started when it first played up when i pluged the usb cable into my laptop the laptop slowed right down and i had to pull the xbee explorer board out but no i can at least plug it in

Use the ‘Test/Query’ button to determine if its working. If the response here fails then nothing else will work.

Double check for any bad contacts in the connectors.

A XBee Pro is high power so the USB may have difficulty supplying the necessary power. Try using a powered USB Hub instead of your Laptop USB port.
