First of all you have a manificent website–well laid out and very informative. I had called you some days ago by phone to confirm you had the ADXL202 ±2G accelerometers and you replied yes. Now I compiled a list of the coponents I require (including the afromentioned accelerometers) and chose to pay Via Paypal Express checkout (and use FEDEX International Priority (1-3 Days) - $82.91). I do have sufficient funds (The gross order amounts to $295.66) but while clicking on the Submit button I got a red warning on the top of the screen stating the following: (10422) The transaction cannot complete successfully. Instruct the customer to use an alternative payment method. I’d like to pay via paypal, as I have already suffered the loss of well over 300 US dollars from Futurlec (UPDATE: Received an email today from sales@futurlec.com telling me they should refund my money in 2 business days). You seem honest chaps but starting from today I want to use paypal as my preferred payment method. Hope this doen’t affect my order completion. Thanks in advance for any reply, keep it up.
Hi, as of today futurlec (www.futurlec.com) still hasn’t credited my bank account altough an email was received from Alan (amp@futurlec.com) stating that my order had been cancelled and should have bee credited 2 days ago. They still owe me over $300! Somebody had bad experiences with futurlec like this? Please post.
On the other hand the guys at sparkfun seem serious: 1)Website is informative and kewl! 2) They do have contact numbers (unlike futurlec) and yes, I have phoned them 3 times, responded me and where very helpful and polite 3) They DO ship your order–After JUST a day my package was sent via fedex and supplied me with a tracking number. Hope it arrives in good condition! Thanks.
I need to qualify my post by saying that I’ve only ordered from Futurlec on a small number of occasions, and that I have never had to cancel an order or request a refund. So my experience is not yours. However, all of my orders were processed in a satisfactory manner and I received them in the Chicago, IL area in 9 - 10 days (not bad for postal service from Thailand). From my experiences, they are not a fly-by-night operation. There may be any number of reasons why you haven’t received your refund, but you have an actual email contact, and you can follow up with them to find out the current state of your refund.
All companies (even Sparkfun) have glitches from time to time. The mark of a world-class operation is how quickly they are able to address the issues and resolve them in a satisfactory manner. I agree that Sparkfun is a great company to deal with and their products “spark” my creativity. I have had my share of glitches with them – some my responsibility, some theirs. But, other than having to incur additional shipping charges to send items back, they have always made things right. That is why I continue to support Sparkfun.
