Problems using AVR-PG2 Programmer with PCI LPT card.

Going through the first tutorial, and had a ton of trouble getting the programmer to talk to the 168.

After troubleshooting (trying to load the code on my roomates computer) I’ve decided it’s my LPT port.

Does the AVR-PG2 not work with PCI LPT add on cards? I know it doesn’t work with USB LPT ports, but will it not work with the PCI card either?

The card is installed and working as LPT1, is there anything special I need to do? Or am I just hosed until I get a PC with an on-board LPT port.

Thanks in advance,

-Tim

Those parallel port programmers are notoriously unreliable, even after you get software for XP that permits direct I/O access.

Better to bite the bullet and get an Atmel ISP, $40 or so. Or this SFE partner’s Atmel Studio compatible DIY
