Project Questions: Microphone with censorship bleep.

Greetings,

Please let me know what you think and I will post pictures if needed.

My current project is to take a standard microphone similar to the following and add a button to play a 1000Hz tone while depressed.

***My microphone does not have a button, yet.

I plan on getting an Arduino nano and wiring it in parallel inside the handle. Can I just solder it to the mircophone’s and connector’s red and black or is there another way? Will I need to amplify the nano?

Also I worry that the Arduino nano will be too big. Is there are smaller/thin product that can produce a 1000Hx tone?

Thank you all very much for your time and effort. You are all amazing people!

Best,

Dustin

Even using through-hole parts, you should be able to build this circuit in an area roughly the size of a pencil lead: http://josepino.com/circuits/audio-oscillator-1

No microprocessor and programming needed for this. Just take a 555 Timer chip and 3 or so resistors/capacitors, and a battery, button. I'd suggest using about 400Hz. With the right pair of resistors and a coupling capacitor you can wire to the mic's audio connector.

The challenge is in the mechanical packaging… unless there’s room inside the mic’s handle.
