I like the OLIMEX ARM boards and find them very useful. But I seem to go through the same issue every time trying to figure out what is actually running on the board at delivery.
For example I just purchased the E2129 Web board. As with most of the olimex products there is an electronic info file available from their web site which is pretty good as a manual.
But you never have any idea what software has been preloaded on the board, so it is a mystery as to if the start up problems are the board or my setup.
In this case I search and found some postings by Olimex that the “test” software used is the web server software as posted on the rowley website.
In my case that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Olimex Suggestions:
-
Indicate for each board what firmware is loaded at delivery.
-
Depending on the board there are random (seemingly) references to demo code. The code bits are sometimes complete, sometimes not and generally use differing development tools (which are not necessarily disclosed). My suggestion is to indicate the development environment and include a binary loadable version.
