Question: Fine placement of components (EAGLE)

Hello, i have a question that the manual can not solve for me.

In a Sch, also in the Brd. I can move the components, text, whatever, with the grid established. But when i want to do a more precise placement (pressing ALT key), i can move the part… but when i’m going to place it (left click, with the ALT still pressed), the part goes to the most closer “not fine grid”, forgetting the place that i decided with the ALT key.

The manual says it should be enough this action… but it isn’t.

Resume: When i left click, with ALT pressed, for place a part, EAGLE does not do anything xD, stills moving the part.

pd: i don’t know if it is relevant, i’m working under Linux.

EDIT: Solved

Checking the tutorial from SF, is CTRL+ALT , not only ALT ¬¬, nice manual hehe.

glad you figured it out. I’ve not seen this problem - alt seems to work the way you thought it should.

However, I highly recommend you NOT changing the grid alignment of parts in schematics as it will become very hard to connect components. text, labels and values (after smash) are fine though.

Sometimes, for place names it is necesary (imo) for not overlap wires xD.

Also in layout for place names.
