Questions Regarding SparkFun Audio Codec Breakout - WM8960

I’m interested in building my own Bluetooth audio adapter for my car, and I was interested in using the SparkFun Audio Codec Breakout - WM8960 as the audio portion, at least initially.

I have two questions regarding this board though that I would like clarification on before I purchase it.

  • - The examples shown in the hookup guide seem to show audio input and audio output, but never together. Is it possible to have a stereo audio output and a microphone input?
  • - Long-term, I would like to use my own custom PCB instead of a collection of breakout boards. But it seems that the WM8960 used in the breakout board is EOL and no longer manufactured. Does SparkFun have a recommendation for a codec chip that could be used as a replacement?
    1. Sure, the 1st example has 1 mic and 1 out diagrammed https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/au … e-1-volume

    2. Not strictly, but we have some components and other stuff here https://www.sparkfun.com/categories/343 (it looks like there are 7 of the WM8960, so maybe grab em fast!)
