Qwiic Motor Driver (ROB-15451) power question

I want to verify that I wont fry the motor driver before I try this.

I’m using a Redboard Plus. I want to power the Redboard with a 12V power supply through the barrel jack. Then I want to use the Vin pin on the Redboard and connect it to the Vin pin on the ROB-15451 Qwiic Motor Driver.

On the ROB-15451 Qwiic Motor Driver hook up guide (here: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/ho … 1630246818) it says “Operates from 3 to 11 volts with 12v absolute max”

But on the actual ROB-15451 Qwiic Motor Driver board, it says “11V MAX”.

What gives? Whats the actual max Voltage?

Per the data sheet, the DRV8835 has an absolute maximum voltage of 12v, and a recommended max motor voltage of 11V. Since you don’t want to run at the absolute max rating (a small spike or some noise on the power rail could take you over the 12v and damage the part), the max safe voltage to use for the motor voltage is 11v, and you should make sure it doesn’t spike over 12v.

So if I set up a simple voltage divider and dropped the 12 V to 11V, that should be good?
