QWIIC RTC MODULE bob-1458

I have tried several QWIIC RTC modules(BOB-1458)with the SPARKFUN ESP32 VROOM Thing Pluc C(WRL-20168).

It sets time using the “Example1-Set_Time.ino” code but it will not read the time using “Example2-Print_Time.ino” after it has been set. I have tried several modules using only the onboard capacitor and one using a coincell battery. Are the modules bad or is the code bad or don’t they work with the ESP32?
