Qwiic Thermocouple Amplifier - MCP9600

Hi,

The MCP9600 Qwiic Thermocouple Amplifier (SEN-16295) is a supported device with the IOT datalogger.

When the MCP9600 is connected to the IOT datalogger it does not show up as a connected device, under the device setting selection.

I’ve tried with two MCP9600 boards and neither show up, I’ve also tried with the IOT-9DOF datalogger, same result.

When either MCP9600 is I2C scanned using a MicroMod micro it shows up as hex address 0x60, the default.

Please advise if this is due to a software version or some other issue or should the I2C address be different?

The datalogger firmware shows as Version: 01.00.03 - build 000099

Please advise Ronald Ross

How many i2c devices are on the bus? Can you test it alone? How long are the cables/wires?

Hi TS-Russell

Thanks for the reply, I found that the default address of the MCP9600 (SEN-16295) 0x60 is not recognized by the Sparkfun IOT-9DOF datalogger.

But it does recognize 0x63 and 0x64 and possibly others in the range, those 2 addresses can be set with 7.5k and 13k resistor respectively in R2 position, and the jumper pads at JP1 are cut.

This might be something to add to the documentation of the IOT datalogger.
