I have several RedBoard’s (#15123) and the USB connection does not work consistently. If I press on the small crystal by the USB to Serial chip, it usually will connect. I have no idea what this crystal part is because the schematic files on the product page are for v1.0 and I have v2.0.
Would it be possible to update the product page with the v2.0 schematics? Is it possible that the crystal is not soldered all the way and is a loose connection?
This is still the current sch https://cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/c/5/7/e/f/RedBoard-Qwiic.pdf (only the silkscreen has changed on the boards for ‘v20’)
I’m guessing you are pushing on the fuse?
Circle the component in paint and post it here
It does sound like shoddy soldering or maybe leftover flux is the problem, feel free to take a close-up photo as well and we can take a look
I don’t see anything obvious (although the vias don’t seem to be drilled on one board? weird)
Was it purchased from us? If so head over to Return Policy - SparkFun Electronics (contact vendor if purchased elsewhere) and we’ll get ya squared away
Will do. Thanks for the help. I did buy these 2 years ago and hope that is not a problem. They sat in the box until recently
