Ok, I got my EM-406, got it working and had big smiles.
Then I downloaded SirfDemo and switched to binary mode and had big smiles.
Then I pushed the wrong button (sorry, but not sure which one) and now I cannot communicate with it. Smiles all gone.
Any one have tips for either resetting the device? Leave it alone for a week and let the caps drain? Will it reset to factory mode?
Thanks // M
there is a menu selection under actions that is titled something like “syncronize protocol” that usually get things back to normal. I’m actually online to download sirfdemo so I can’t check the menu item, sorry.
Synchronise prototcol didn’t work for me when I tried it.
I have managed to reconnect after draining some of the charge in the super-cap and leaving it alone for a few days.
Everything is working again.
Thanks //M
Synchronize isn’t the most reliable command on SiRFstarIII. I wrote a little widget that does the same thing (under *NIX), and I often need to run it 3 or 4 times to get the change to take. Sometimes you’re better off just trying to connect at each of the supported speeds… click the little yellow gear, point sirfdemo at your device and select a speed.
