I’m having trouble pairing my RN-42 with my computer. I connected a 3v power supply to pin 11 (VCC) and ground to pin 12 (GND). Shouldn’t the device be automatically discoverable? I also connected RX and TX to digital out pins on my arduino, but I don’t think that this would affect pairing the device. Please let me know if there’s anything I missed. Thanks!
The problem was that I viewed the RN 42 diagram the wrong way. The pin out from the datasheet posted on the sparkfun website is from the angle of viewing the module FROM ABOVE (not below). I mistakingly reversed the tx/rx pins and the vcc/gnd pins. Swapping them solved the issue.
