RTK Facet L-Band pointperfect missing

I just got my new RTK Facet L-Band today with 12 months pointperfect included went to set it up according to hookup video and guide. Even used terra term just like video but there is no capital P in the menu to set up pointperfect with my home wifi. If you type P it just says unknown choice. Where’s my pointperfect and how to set it up

The display on the RTK Facet L-Band does not show a car symbol for Rover it looks more like a radio symbol

RTK Facet L-Band v 2.4

“The only setup required is a WiFi SSID and password. Once entered, the device will provision itself and periodically (once a month) update the decryption keys necessary to use the PointPerfect service. The price of the RTK Facet L-Band includes a 12-month subscription. Additional years of service can be purchased.”

Also see https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … ntperfect/ (and the rest of the manual) for more info on getting set up

Thanks for the reply

I’ve went through all that. Pointperfect service don’t even show up as an option so I can’t enter my wifi ssid and password

I’m thinking I might need a driver for it or an update of some sort

This is really odd. The PointPerfect menu is shown when the L-Band receiver is detected at boot. A few questions:

  • I’m wondering if you were shipped the wrong model. Does the unit’s ID sticker show the text “RTK FACET L-BAND GNSS RTK”?

  • If you do indeed have the right model, what does the display show when turning on? It should show “SparkFun RTK Facet LB”.

  • What firmware version is loaded onto the device? This is shown on the display at power on.

Thanks for the reply

Yes I figured it out over the weekend and you’re right they sent me the wrong model. I bought it from Amazon and a barcode sticker on the outside of the case said L band but the instrument ID sticker did not say L band. In the sparkfun video when he had both the L band and the older model without L band sitting on the table together I noticed the difference in the labels and looked at mine and that’s how I figured out it was the wrong one. Was going to buy directly from sparkfun this time but looks like they are back ordered there right now so I guess I’ll have to try Amazon again and hope it’s the right one this time

Ah, that explains it! We should have L-Band units available before the end of the week. I’ll also work with our Amazon folks to make sure they’ve got their inventory correctly shelved.

Ok , I got my new L band, now I go into the PointPerfect menu to configure my wifi and there is no option for ssid or password What Now?

Ok so I went into #3 provision Device

it found wifi that i entered in the main menu #6 configure wifi

now says Device successfully provisioned

my version is 3.2

did you eliminate the need to enter wifi in the pointperfect menu or am i missing something

will see if it works

Ok seems to be working

I am new to using the Facet RTK. How do I access the Point Perfect Menu to enter the WiFi SSID and password?

There are a few ways; see https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … ntperfect/ for an instructional

@HyrdoGeo1 - The regular RTK Facet (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/19984) does not have the L-Band receiver built in, only the RTK Facet L-Band (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/20000) does.

If you do not see a PointPerfect menu, you likely have a regular Facet. Also, the sticker on the outside of the unit will say ‘RTK FACET’ in the top left corner.

Using TeraTerm I have attempted to enter the home wifi SSID and Password. The tutorial shows this information to be entered in the PointPerfect menu option “6”. When I enter the PointPerfect submenu, there is no option available to enter the SSID or Password.

This is a screen shot of the PointPerfect menu options showing on my unit.

Ah! My fault. You do have an L-Band with newer firmware that supersedes the documentation. I’ll update that tomorrow.

Use option 6) WiFi from the Main Menu to enter up to four WiFi networks: https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … menu_wifi/

The L-Band key system will attempt to use any of the WiFi networks you enter into the WiFi menu.
