RTK Facet Shutdown on USB-C plugin

Whenever I plug in a USB-C, 2.0 or 3.0, my RTK Facet will stop and then blackout.

My battery is at 100%, and the RTK Facet will function properly when turned on, but a couple of seconds after I connect a USB-C cable, it will shut off without any notice. I can’t see any data on the COM port because the connection is so short. It connects to USB-C and then shuts the system off.

Is something broken? Do I need a replacement or to somehow reset something?

Thanks in advance,

Do you have a stock Facet or has it been modified? Your other post (https://forum.sparkfun.com/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=59603) makes me think this Facet has been modified.

Under normal operation, the Facet should not be shutting down when a USB cable is plugged in. Something is going wrong.

Do you have have any other software that may be toggling the port open/closed? A software that toggles the control lines (DTR, RTS, etc) can cause the ESP32 to reset and the unit to power down.

This facet is configured as our base and is not modified. It is only connected to our serial telemetry radio. Was functioning fine before.

Note: charging LED will remain on, the rest of the unit will shutdown

Does the unit function normally with the radio removed? What radio are you using?

It was the XROCK telemetry radio recommended by Sparkfun.

The unit still functions incorrectly, regardless of whether or not the radio is connected.

I’m afraid this sounds like a hardware issue. Would you mind sending the unit back to us for inspection and repair? https://www.sparkfun.com/returns should get you an RMA #. We can usually turn a unit around in a day or two.
