SAMD51 Thing Plus (DEV-14713): Questions and Issues

When I load the following sketch it loads but the ‘Thing Plus’ is not found after it reboots. No com port or anything. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have reproduced the problem on several boards with and without the sensor attached.

    Serial.print(F("Temperature = "));
    Serial.print(bmp.readTemperature());
    Serial.println(" *C");

    Serial.print(F("Pressure = "));
    Serial.print(bmp.readPressure());
    Serial.println(" Pa");

    Serial.print(F("Approx altitude = "));
    Serial.print(bmp.readAltitude(1013.25)); /* Adjusted to local forecast! */
    Serial.println(" m");

    Serial.println();
    delay(2000);
}

Thanks.

You should be able to recover your Thing Plus by manually putting it into bootloader mode and uploading a ‘blank’ sketch or a simple sketch like ‘Blink.’

It’s quite likely that something in the library you’re using doesn’t play nicely with the SAMD51. You might try a different library to see if that helps.

There are a lot of libraries out there with AVR code that doesn’t run on non AVR based microcontrollers. Usually that code won’t compile but sometimes it does and causes the board to lock up. I suspect that’s what’s happening with your board.
