SEN-11050 Waterproof Temperature Sensor

I need to extend the 6ft cable. What wire AWG is the existing cable and what is the max length permissible for accurate readings? Also, is this product suited for a high EMF environment?

The documentation we were provided doesn’t offer a lot of detail on those specifics. However, it would seem that from the pictures I would venture an educated guess and say the wires are probably 22~24 AWG sizes.

From the datasheet, the logic voltage levels need to have a high signal of 2.2V Local Power (or 3.0 Parasitic Power Mode). I would perform voltage drop calculations using those depending on the type of wire you’re going to use. However, also note that long distances of unshielded wire may have significant signal degradation or other issues. Make your modifications after thorough research.

Since the datasheet doesn’t shed any information about EMF environments, I would advise that it is not suitable for high EMF environments. However, you might be able to get functionality with adequate shielding. However, this is an educated guess and I can’t guarantee full desired operation.

24AWG would be fine, max length is going to depend on a bunch of factors, you'd need to experiment to find what works in your situation.

Probably not, EMF will find it's way into your cabling and corrupt the data. if you use shielded cable that might help though. Again, you'd need to experiment to see what works best.
